The Hennepin County Library is hiring an Accountant to join our team. Location and hours:This position is hybrid. This position is hybrid and will be performed on-site and remote as other job duties require. On-site location is Ridgedale Library 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, MN 55305. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In this position, you will:
Prepare routine journal entries, transactions, and reconciliation.
Assist in developing budgets and in preparing recommendations for future budgeting purposes.
Prepare monthly reports for assigned budget areas.
Process accounts payable.
Assist with grant projects.
Monitor cash management.
Provide excellent customer services for both internal and external customers.
Provide back-up duties as needed for team.
Need to have:
One of the following:
Four years or more of accounting activities experience.
Associate's degree or higher in accounting, business administration with an emphasis in accounting, finance, and/or another related area and two years or more of accounting activities experience.
Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business administration with an emphasis in accounting, finance, and/or another related area.
Nice to have:
Experience:
Four years or more of experience working with general accounting activities. (cash receipts, accounts payable, and journal entries.)
Being responsible for the financial reporting and analysis for assigned budget areas, including budget preparation, forecasting and budget presentations.
With purchasing cards, working with Cash Management Systems, Personal Services FTE Tracking, and Grant and Program analysis and reporting.
With Library Financial Management.
Knowledge of:
Accounting principles, theories, and procedures.
Auditing standards and procedures.
Federal/state compliance requirements.
Financial applications including Excel, Word, and accounting system/audit management software.
Ability to:
Perform all parts of the accounting cycle (cash receipts, accounts payable, and journal entries.)
Handle multiple priorities with minimal direction.
Communicate well both verbally and in writing.
Meet deadlines and produce accurate work in a fast-paced office environment.
