Description
The Hennepin County Elections department is responsible for the administration and supervision of all federal, state, and local elections in the county and the 800,000 registered voters. The department is hiring a Training and Communications Election Specialist to provide training, produce training resources and manage training-related communications and logistics for cities, election judges, and internal programs.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed on-site at 625 4th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55415, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and are subject to change based on business need. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:
· Assist in producing training resources and experiences (including video production, still photography, newsletters, written guides, live and online training, and videos) using a variety of media for city and school district clerks, election judges, and internal programs.
· Support professional communications projects, such as document and graphic design for office forms, election guides, polling place communication and signage, and content creation for the public website.
· Aide in establishing guidelines and templates (video, web content, and other digital resources) with priority in standard Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) principles and government plain language writing/communication standards.
· Under supervision of the Clerk and Voter Services Program Manager, collaborate with team members to determine projects and develop training and support programs for clerk and voter services.
· Assist in developing and supporting election judge training and polling place management program.
· Conduct synchronous (both in-person and online) training experiences for clerks and election judges.
· Support short and long-term projects (ranging from a few weeks to several months) while working with and incorporating input from multiple internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts (clerks and state elections partners).
· Support customer service operations and other elections teams.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Four or more years of experience in general administrative work relating to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position.
§ Note: General administrative work is defined as the administration and/or management of programs, policies, and/or budgets.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in public administration, business administration, or other field appropriate to the position.
Nice to have:
· Experience in:
o Video production (scripting, storyboarding, filming, editing, audio); experience using video editing software like Adobe Premiere.
o Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Articulate 360, Microsoft Office Suite, SiteCore, SharePoint, Workfront and/or GovDelivery.
o Creating or editing content for publication (i.e., brochures, presentations, reports, websites) using plain language standards.
o Applying principles of digital accessibility.
o Instructional design for adult learners.
o Planning, leading or supporting synchronous online learning experiences using video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams, Adobe Connect, Zoom, or Cisco WebEx.
o Election administration, service as an election judge, or civic engagement/education programming.
· Ability to:
o Read and interpret Minnesota election law and Minnesota election rules.
o Work collaboratively with a diverse group of team members, including internal and external partners.
o Provide non-partisan, impartial and excellent customer service.
