Description
Hennepin County's Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking an IT Supervisor to provide leadership and supervision to Staff Computer Support Center staff and sites for Enterprise Support Services. This supervisor must be passionate about providing exceptional customer service and developing people.

Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be on site at multiple Staff Computer Support Centers across the county and remote as job duties allow. Work hours will primarily be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. with options for flexibility. Locations currently include: Brookdale Service Center 6125 Shingle Creek Parkway, Brooklyn Center, MN Government Center, 300 S 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN Ridgedale Service Center at 12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, MN While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. In this position, you will:
· Perform supervisory functions including staff scheduling, setting performance expectations and standards, hiring, assigning, work assignment, evaluating performance, and training; assess and plan career development activities with staff through individual development plans.
· Understand business requirements and align operational staff; foster collaboration across work units and lines of business. Define and communicate key performance indicators.
· Analyze current services and usage; make decisions reducing, changing, or introducing new services; lead projects to change current services in conjunction with IT and business units across the county; plan and coordinate audit response documentation.
· Analyze, evaluate and summarize data and narrative reports.
· Develop, recommend and implement policies and procedures.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Eight years or more of experience as an information technology specialist within the last ten years; five of which were at the senior IT specialist level.
o Associates degree in a related field (or approved certification in an information technology program) and six years or more of experience as an information technology specialist within the last eight years; three of which were at the senior IT specialist level.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems (MIS), or closely related field, and four years or more of experience as an information technology specialist within the last six years; two of which were at the senior IT specialist level.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Supervising or providing work direction.
o Using a service desk software tool for tracking issues, changes, knowledge and assets.
o Working in an IT support role troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
o With mobile technologies and a general understanding of network connectivity.
o Creating and documenting IT metrics and reporting based on complex data structures.
· Ability to present and communicate complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
