Description
Hennepin County's Information Technology (IT) department is seeking an IT Technical Analyst II to review data-focused work requests sent to IT from business customers. This person will serve as the liaison between the business requestors and IT technical teams, closely coordinating effort dependencies across the organization so priorities synchronize among teams and align with project chronology. This person will utilize the practice of team and individual ‘WIP’ (work in progress) limits to confirm awareness of work prioritization while simultaneously being mindful of customer availability. This position is remote. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
While this position is designated as remote, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.
About the position type:This is a full-time, benefit earning position.This position is internally classified as an Information Technology (IT) Analyst II - Technical Analyst. Click here to view the job classification specification.At this time, employees may be eligible to receive an additional cash merit of up to $1860.43 that can be earned annually based on performance.In this position, you will:
· Communicate directly with customers to deconstruct business needs and assess scope of work requests. Collaborate daily with Data Engineers, System Administrators, Application Monitoring staff, and BI Developers to convey details needed between business and technical requirements.
· Troubleshoot concerns and assist in the removal of any roadblocks or questions between technical and non-technical partners.
· Document IT work requests and ensure consistency of team prioritization, process flows, and consistent customer communication.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Four years or more of information technology experience.
o Associate's/vocational/technical degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), information technology or an approved information technology field related to the position and two years or more of information technology experience.
o Completion of five college/vocational technical technology courses or completion of an approved IT Hennepin County internship and two years or more of information technology experience.
o Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS), information technology or an approved information technology field related to the position.
· Certification in or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire in ITIL Foundations.
Nice to have:
· Two or more years of experience overseeing and improving process workflows between customers and IT technical teams.
· Two or more years of experience facilitating meetings with both technical and non-technical attendees.
· Experience:
o Ensuring project deliverables are managed and coordinated with IT service areas.
o Serving as the primary contact for project communication.
o Scheduling meetings for project stakeholders with busy calendars.
· Demonstrated problem-solving skills, effective decision-making skills, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to:
o Manage competing priorities while maintaining strict deadlines.
o Work in a strong team environment.
o Plan and document complex work tasks.
