Description
Hennepin County Library (HCL) is seeking a Collections Project Support staff at Minneapolis Central Library. This library houses around 1.7 million items and is the largest collection of the 41 buildings that make up Hennepin County Library. This position will assist the Minneapolis Central Collections Project Manager in the oversight of various ongoing and project-based work. Common tasks will include transferring materials from collection to collection using the Horizon integrated library systems (ILS), physical relabeling of materials, assisting with collection inventories, shelving, shifting of materials, and other physical material handling duties. The Collections Project Support staff will collaborate with multiple staff members to ensure the collection is well maintained and organized.

Location and hours:
This position will be onsite at Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55415. Occasional remote work hours may be available, as job duties permit. Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. with some flexibility.

In these positions, you will:
· Use the Library of Congress (LC) Classification system as well as the other classification systems in use at Minneapolis Central including, SuDoc, Putnam, and Dewey.
· Use specialized tools such as Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) exchange tool and Hennepin County Library built web tools.
· Collect statistics.
· Prepare reports.
· Contribute to a respectful workplace, and to work-life balance.
· Provide good communication skills and customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
· Collaborate and create relationships with Minneapolis Central staff.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Two years or more of full-time equivalent office clerical experience.
o Completion of two years or more of post-high school education.
o 18 months or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
o One year or more of office clerical experience and completion of the Human Services Pathway Training program.
§ Note: Education may be substituted for experience on a month for month (3 semester credits = 1 month) basis.
o Ability to bend, lift, and carry up to 25 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Collecting and maintaining data using Excel.
o Shelving or shifting print collections and other physical materials.
o Using Horizon or other integrated library systems (ILS).
o Working in a large public library.
· Knowledge of:
o Library of Congress, Dewey Decimal, SuDoc, or other library classification systems.
o Basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate online systems and e-mail.
· Ability to:
o Work across multiple departments and with a variety of staff and volunteers.
o Communicate effectively with staff in various departments, including regularly sharing information with co-workers and other stakeholders, and appropriately referring issues to supervisors.
