Description
The Property Tax division of Hennepin County's Land Information and Tax Services (LITS) department is seeking to fill l Real Estate and Tax Specialist II (REATS II) position. Employees of LITS play an integral part in making Hennepin County a great organization; one that provides taxpayers and residents with easily accessible and time saving services they need while leading the way in e-government solutions.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the Hennepin County Government Center located at 300 South 6th Street Minneapolis, MN, 55487, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position, you will:
· Serve as a point of contact for taxpayers on the Property Tax telephone lines, at the Property Tax service counter, and via email.
· Respond to requests regarding property records, assessed valuations, current year tax, delinquent tax, confession of judgment, and tax forfeiture.
· Answer questions on various notices and forms sent to taxpayers and property owners.
· Accept payments for current and delinquent taxes, along with confessions of judgment, contract and rent payments.
Need to have:
One of the following:
· Two or more years of clerical experience processing and maintaining fiscal and/or legal documents.
· 21 months or more of general clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
· Two or more years of post-high school education in business or another related field.
· A combination of education in business or another related field (3 semester credits = 1 month) and experience to equal two years or more.
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Delivering excellent customer service in person and/or over the phone.
o Working as a receptionist, at a front desk, or other similar work.
o Using Microsoft Office products.
o Working with property taxes, real estate, or mortgage companies.
o Performing basic mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
· Knowledge of basic math to calculate interest and tax amounts.
· Ability to calculate fees and balance daily revenue.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Proficient in keyboarding and other computer skills.
