Description
The Operations Business Information Office in County Administration is seeking a Senior IT Systems Engineer. This technical position requires advanced knowledge and leadership in system infrastructure design and architecture, ensuring technical capacity for service delivery to internal business partners. The person in this role will translate and apply long-term planning and design into system implementations, evaluate current systems, lead large-scale system projects, and seek opportunities for continuous improvements in the systems. A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with diverse co-workers, vendors, and customers.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both onsite at various county buildings and remote as job duties require. The primary office will be located at 701 Fourth Avenue South, Suite 650, Minneapolis, MN 55415. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., along with after hours on call support. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. In this position, you will:
· Lead technical work in the analysis, planning, design, redesign, architectural, programming, and maintenance of facility services business systems.
· Effectively communicate and influence stakeholders in the adoption of technology changes.
· Persuade and engage audiences to embrace technological advancements.
· Partner with business to understand the ongoing challenges and revisit the infrastructure regularly to ensure proper business alignment.
· Act as the subject matter expert for facility services systems, software, hardware, and connectivity options.
o Translate IT architecture user requirements into specified solutions for complex systems.
o Participate and lead technology rollouts, transformations, and upgrade projects.
o Collaborate on RFIs/RFPs while serving as the main technical point of contact.
o Provide expertise to solve complex technology problems.
o Provide guidance and expertise to other members in the team.
o Review existing infrastructure deployments and take action/recommend actions to increase overall performance, stability and security.
o Perform root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions and to prevent recurring problems in the environment.
· Collaborate with Facility Maintenance Operations Engineers, Professional Engineers, Electricians, IT Enterprise, Network Architecture, and IT Security Operations teams to recommend and develop customer solutions; lead proof of concept projects.
· Lead conversations about industry trends and emerging changes to the facility services environment, making recommendations and planning to deal with changes.
· Coach and mentor other IT engineers and administrators.
Need to have:
· One of the following:
o Eight or more years of information technology experience.
o Associate/vocational/technical degree in computer science, engineering, or a related information technology field and six or more years of information technology experience.
o Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, management information systems, data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related information technology field and four or more years of information technology experience.
AND
· Current certification in a leading professional level certification area (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, Infoblox Core DDI, etc.).
Nice to have:
· Experience:
o Administering enterprise-wide facility services applications, systems, storage, and hyperconverged infrastructure.
o Managing building automation technologies e.g., Routers, BACNet/IP communication controllers, bridges, hubs, sensors, switches, converters, panels, etc.
o With maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, databases, network equipment, servers, and virtualization environments.
